TAKE ME BACK HOME

Hey guys!

So last nights tweetup was sooooo fun! i must start off by thanking everyone! The folks that showed up at Rhino AND online… you all rule. And dont worry if you weren’t able to make it! we all know you were there in spirit!

Alrighty, so the night started off with me at the bar eating the best and biggest basket of fries!

i then logged on to the Kyte Channel to see what was going on for fun and Mark had posted a video he made of him driving! soooo cool!

The first hypercubist to show up was Jasin, then i believe Francisco, Andre (BeCircle), NinjaCube, Dannie, CubeMan… and, i could be wrong (cause i was all over the place yesterday!) that was us!!! If i’m completely blanking out and forgot you were there, then PLEASE slap me on the wrist and let me know!!! (ps i will be linking everyone to the their blogs/twitter when i get a sec)

Anyhoo, food was had, drinks… we had a special guest appearance that ruled to much There was tons of great conversation and new friendships made!

The cool thing that ended up happening was people took turns broadcasting themselves! so cool. We got to meet Mark, Anna, and Hearts & Clefs, who may i add, started playing his guitar and singing what people were typing! awesome!

So, after having knitted (is that even a word?!) this while spending the whole day in waiting rooms with no BB or iPhone:

I went into overdrive “i must do something” when i got home. So i decided to make something new to wear to the tweetup on Thursday. I seem to be favoring “accessories” when it comes time to make stuff for tweetup, it makes me laugh… so anyhoo… i made a PURSE! I’m calling it my “Beetle Juice I <3 Cube” purse… oh wait, maybe it should just be “Beetle Cube”!!!! Done, there you go folks, changed it… just like that! lol

So, the striped fabric is some left ofter curtain fabric that was laying around, and the pink fabric was… well.. i’m not sure, i just know i have a TON of it! I literally just started cutting fabric with no rhyme or reason, all i knew is that i wanted it to be square (cube…. lol) and i knew it had to fit my laptop! Surprisingly, it didnt turn out bad at all! i actually over impressed myself considering how late it was and how tired i was Hubby suggested having a “pinned on” piece, so i grabbed some easter egg blue vinyl, and asked him to do the honors… once i pinned it on, i nearly squealed! Not only is it the perfect “telma” purse… but it’s my new CUBE purse!!!!!! The beauty of it is that now i can swap out what’s on it! so if i make it into the top 500, you KNOW i’m gonna be telling people to vote for me on my bag! lol

After the last tweetup, (which was so much fun by the way) the wheels started turning in my little head. I ran some ideas by Will & Francisco, and this is the result of both those conversations.

There will be another Cube Tweetup, Next Thursday April 9th.

Now, this TweetUp will not only be for the folks who can get to downtown T.O. This tweetup is for everyone across the country. If there’s anyone that pull this off, it’s us. The HyperCubers. Cap C & Nissan knew how to “get to us” and you know what, it worked. As far as i’m concerned, us hypercubers are the perfect people to pull a stunt like this off. The first that i know of … country wide tweetup.

Now you may be asking yourself, “well, Telma… how exactly are we gonna pull this off”. It’s quite easy… well, i hope!

Next Thursday, April 9th there will be a “physical” tweetup at the Rhino, in Toronto, from 7pm – 10pm EST (or whenever people decide to leave lol) The catch is this, i will be broadcasting the tweetup, on my Kyte channel LIVE from 8pm-9pm. The cool thing about this kyte channel, is that it has chatting capablities. So we’ll all be joined virtually. Who know’s maybe HyperCube will make a guest appearance and we’ll be able to get *ahem* him or her on camera

Now, i’m not saying that everyone who can’t make it to the “physical” tweetup needs to be glued to their machines by themselves. How rad would it be if you organzied parties/get togethers with fellow hypercubists in your city? or friends who want to show their support? Imagine if we all took photos, video… and then posted them online for the world to see how one little insanely creative contest, brough the country together for just one hour on the same day? REVOLUTIONARY!

So, I ask you all now, will you be part of the Revolution?

I’ve created this poster (bottom of post) that i will hopefully get to post everywhere around the city and hand out. If you want one that has your blog URL on it, please let me know. I want to make this as HUGE as possible, but of course understanding that it’s totally an experiment and whatever happens, will be a total triumph for us all. Now i can’t do this alone, i need YOUR help. If anyone has any ideas on how to make this BIG, how to get a lot of people involved, then please let me know.

So, my hubby emailed me a cryptic email with about buying a magaizine with a PDF attachement i couldnt view… once i was opened it i jumped out of my chair! Strategy Magazine has an article on what Capital C is doing with Nissan in term os this oh so innovative campaign! and lo and behold there’s a screen grab of my blog! oh my gosh… is all i can say! I noticed a lot of people following the CUBE on twitter who happen to be new to it. So I thought it would be cool to put together a “how to” in terms of making twitter (and more) work for you and how YOU can help spread the word.

I know, I know, why would I help other people win MY dream car? Well, cause I want to help. The task at hand right now is to help spread the word… so I figured if I would help others do so!

So, here’s a few tips on how you can help spread the word and get yourself noticed!

TWITTER

So, you’re following the Hypercube. AWESOME! but you need to follow more people. Why? Well think of it this way. You are the leader of your little space on twitter. If you are only following the hypercube (let’s now refer to the hypercube as the overall ruler of the world for the purpose of this analogy) then anytime the ruler asks you to help spread the word, you’re only spreading the word back to the ruler so, first things first, you can start by following some of the other people following the Hypercube here You will also want to start following other people, friends, co-worker, random people that way, you’re not only preaching to the converted!

@Franciscochu sent this to me today to help you as well: http://twitter.com/twitter_tips/ if you follow them, they will give you daily tips and links to help you get versed in all things Twitter.

Another good tip is, if you are trying to communicate with the hypercube on twitter, then you should always have @thehypercube in your update. If you don’t put that in, then The Hypercube won’t know you’re talking to them

One last thing with twitter, if you put #thehypercube at the end of all your posts about/to The Hypercube, then everyone can see what everyone’s doing via a twitter search like this.

That should get you all set with Twitter!

FACEBOOK

There’s lots of things you can do Facebook to help spread the word. The most oblivious and easiest would be to start a group! Invite all your friends and tell them what you’re up to! You should also become a fan of The Hypercube here! You can also post all the stuff you’re doing there.

OTHER

Now, this is where we get into the serious stuff One Hypercuber (of many!) that are doing what i’m about to mention, is Sunny Crittenden She so rules at this that it’s not even funny. Another way to help spread the word is to get on message boards, leave comments on blogs, your local paper’s site… so on and so forth. You can see how Sunny is owning this realm here.

Now, with all these tips, you should be able to rule this. I hope this was helpful and i wish everyone all the best in this amazing Quest for the Cube!

After quite the scare, my little blog is back up and running! Believe it or not I’m glad it went down. A lot of fellow hypercubists showed their concern, and even tried to help. I can’t begin to tell you about how awesome that was. Usually, people don’t help “the competition”. This goes to show that there are good people out there. I truly thank everyone, from the bottom of my heart for your help and support!

So, it dawned on me today, that as much as creating this blog, designing it etc, may be creative… i haven’t showcased any of my other stuff! So i’ve been digging around to find some stuff i’ve done in the past. More to come!!!

This is a piece I shot and edited a while back. It’s the Towers Of London when they came to Toronto for the first time. I love these guys so much!

This is a music video that myself and my good friend Mark shot on one fine rainy day in London Ontario. 1 camera, 2 of us, and Chad (the artist). This i co-shot with Mark and edited myself.

ok, so myself and a few other twits @mindzai @eckstatic @capsulecom & @franciscochu have decided to have a Cube Tweet-Up on Friday March 27th! Why?…. Why Not? Originally, we were gonna get together for fun, do some crypwalkin’ BUT why not get all the T.O. & GTA Hypercubers together!?

So if you can, meet us all at The Fox & The Fiddle on John St (South of the Much Music building) Look for me! I think i’ll be the easiest to spot as i dont know many people with crooked bangs and white hair! lol
